Don't know if anyone saw this tonight, I never used to be a fan until I watched repeats.

So, I watched downstairs and my girls watched upstairs together (because I was creating a mess whilst cleaning kitchen and they didn't want to be anywhere near me :D).

The comedy was there but so was the realisation of losing an elderly parent.

I thought this episode was great tbh, it highlighted family values - my girls were disappointed because they'd expected more comedy.

The comedy was there but so was the reality, my girls have promised never to put me into a home which is not the point that upset me.

What actually did upset me, apart from 'Nana' dying is the fact that in this day and age, the elderly are treated with such disrespect.

I've always accepted the fact that when one of my parents are suddenly left alone that I'd be the one to be there for them, I'd take them in and look after them but so many people nowadays are too wrapped up in their own lives to give a damn.

The Royle Family have always been perceived as being uncouth but I'm sure there are many families like them in this country, uncouth maybe but caring and loving all the same.

Let em smoke, drink, swear just so long as they care.

I watched this and didn't think much of it to begin with but it improved as it went on. It was good that 'Jim' at the end showed that he really did care for 'Nana'. However, I wouldn't let the family make any promises to look after me when I'm even more decrepid than I am now. Providing they put me in a decent home  I'll be quite happy. :D

The Royle family was very close knit, with family popping in to see them often. Our family is scattered far and wide, and none of them is in the position to park me in their front room, so a home would probably be the best place for me.

I'd always said that I wouldn't put my mum in a home, until today that is - now I've told her to expect it

No way on this earth could I ever allow my girls to boss me around when I'm bedridden, perish the very thought ;)  :D
