Crikey, the enormity of this tragic event really did hit me yesterday.

Whilst listening to a gruff sounding, Eastend grandad on a talk show yesterday, the dj played Ben and the g/dad burst into tears which set off a chain of calls which resulted in nothing but tears from distraught fans.

The Grandad was upset because of the memories he had of family events, much like many who called in and much like myself tbh - memories of trying to mimic the Jackson dance routines and the many singalongs that were had.

I remember where i was when i heard the news that Elvis had died (in the bath, preparing to go on holiday :D ), i was upset then but this is different because MJ was different, he tried to make a difference by his songs and by the life he lead (before the allegations, which were ludicrous if you knew his life story - he never wanted to grow up and spent years trying to capture a childhood that was deprived of him).

I wanted to answer your question here Adam as to who was more 'famous'

Madonna:  Not in a million years, too many people who have seen her perform live have been disappointed.

The Pope:  If you're Catholic - i'm not at all interested tbh and know very few people who are (i've studied Catholicism btw) and doubt tv appearances would be shown of him all over the world because of what he stands for.

The Queen:  I dare say, possibly.

Michael Jackson:  Most definitely, as was said on the radio yesterday - he tried to unite the world - religious leaders would find that totally impossible as would the Queen and Madonna is only out for herself anyway - her songs are meaningless shit(and i'm really sorry if i've offended any of her fans by saying that but i never was keen).  Michael Jackson has been heard in all corners of the world.  He has fans in all corners of the world and has broken so many records for requests alone at all kinds of functions, radio and tv.

btw, sorry if that reads like a lecture - i've read back and can't be arsed to change it but it's my opinion

I love his music and never did tire of watching him, i'm just feeling so sad that i'll not be able to catch him at least on tv after the concerts he was due to perform at the O2.

It's been lovely watching the Americans celebrating his life though, rather than seeing lots of tears and ott emotions, they're being shown singing and dancing in the streets - absolutely fantastic :)
