Here is a view of Europe's new superjumbo you will not see too often. The picture of the Airbus A380 was taken from space and shows the giant airliner at this year's Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. The image was obtained mid-morning on Sunday 12 June from an altitude of 450km. Ahead of the A380 on the taxi-way is an Airbus A340. The image was processed by Infoterra, a company that specialises in geographic information solutions. The Paris Air Show is an important showcase for the aerospace industry. Firms are attending from across the globe, with the UK's Rolls-Royce, China Air, US giant Boeing and France's Thales all announcing new agreements. Friday marks the first of three public viewing days at Le Bourget, giving Europeans a chance to view the new superjumbo up close. Airbus confirmed recently that deliveries of the A380 would be delayed by six months. The A380 has cost Airbus 12bn euros ($14bn; £8bn) to develop, and will be the world's largest airliner, seating more than 800 passengers across twin decks. Boeing, Airbus' great US rival, backs a contrasting vision of fuel-efficient mid-sized planes which can better service smaller airports - such as its 787 Dreamliner, which is in development. ____________________________________________________________ Awesome, fantastic display of engineering design.
